| Mr.
Gray brings a cross-section of private, not-for-profit and public
sector research and operations experience to his consulting work
at Nichols Applied Management. He has experience in the construction,
energy services and environmental sectors, focusing on business
development and production initiatives, both locally and internationally.
This broad exposure provides him with first-hand professional
experience working within various organizational models and key
sectors in the provincial economy.
Ian’s professional background is rounded-out by overseas
community development work. Projects included basic accounting
and institutional strengthening, community group capacity building
and consultation, and overall project management in disaster-relief
and long-term reconstruction in Central America, as well as short-term
business projects elsewhere in Latin America.
Much of Ian’s work with Nichols Applied Management is assessing
effects of industrial development on the human environment in
the province. He has worked on a number of social and economic
assessment and forecasting studies related to oil sands (mines,
in situ and upgraders), hydro, mining and conventional energy
developments. Areas of focus include population and economic impact
modeling, understanding of labour force mobility and social infrastructure
effects, key stakeholder and aboriginal consultation, community
relations and social responsibility.
Ian is also active in the firm’s evaluation practice, having
conducted program evaluations for northern employee incentives,
affordable housing, seniors’ accommodation standards, and
workplace essential skills training.
Ian provides support in quantitative and qualitative research,
analysis and program evaluation. He is fluent in Spanish.
